Just checked and it is indeed hidden if no valid trainer is available. That's not very good UI design, as it doesn't let you look at why characters are not available/valid. Yes, I agree. With the current UI and available tasks, the number of followers/heroes is too high. The Call for Heroes perk ability has a 20 turn cooldown, but it sounds like one of the UI Update triggers is causing the cooldown to count down. I will investigate. Edit: Yup, found the issue. If the hex has a Primal modifier it should give 8 Jade and 1 Wyrdstone. I found some inconsistency in the code regarding whether Jade is a Quarry or Mine resource. Yes, that screen needs to be better and it needs to be part of the tutorial, with some kind of starting level option (perhaps an option to recruit dregs, outcasts and criminals - giving the unit lower discipline/courage, but being cheaper).
