Found the issue. It was related to the an erroneous UI state flag, delaying updates during some types of army movement. Sometimes it would not get "unblocked" until another army had moved, causing issues like this one, missing action icon updates, missing army icons, etc.

Found the issue: It was a bug triggered by not having valid battle spells. I've fixed the issue for the coming update. Thanks a lot for the reports, they were very helpful in locating the problem.

It is probably one of two things: 1) A bug. There was a bug at one point with some ranged attacks where they become non-ranged on save/load. I will check if it is a similar issue. 2) AI. Just checked and it is indeed hidden if no valid trainer is available. That's not very good UI design, as it doesn't let you look at why characters are not available/valid. Yes, I agree. With the current UI and available tasks, the number of followers/heroes is too high.
