Found the issue: It was a bug triggered by not having valid battle spells. I've fixed the issue for the coming update. Thanks a lot for the reports, they were very helpful in locating the problem.

It is probably one of two things: 1) A bug. There was a bug at one point with some ranged attacks where they become non-ranged on save/load. I will check if it is a similar issue. 2) AI. Just checked and it is indeed hidden if no valid trainer is available. That's not very good UI design, as it doesn't let you look at why characters are not available/valid. Yes, I agree. With the current UI and available tasks, the number of followers/heroes is too high. If the hex has a Primal modifier it should give 8 Jade and 1 Wyrdstone. I found some inconsistency in the code regarding whether Jade is a Quarry or Mine resource.
